Daisies
The worst thing about letting go of someone
is all the things you miss sharing with them.
You liked my favorite shoes,
but to everyone else, they look like any other.
You knew my favorite flower and the
books I liked reading best- things anyone else
would deem insignificant;
Our interests and loves began to mingle-
I learned to love things
because you loved them and I loved you.
And now I see things you would laugh
or smile at and I have no one to share them with;
because no one understands our little quirks
and inside jokes the way we did.
It's hard, letting go.
Not just because you're gone,
but because I feel I've lost
the pieces of me you knew the best.
Poet
If I was not a poet
I would be
filtered sunlight
on Sunday mornings,
dawning on
hearts and their
tangled
mess
If I was not a poet
I would be
a chasm,
a catch
for moments
before death
If I was not a poet
I would be
the mountain
under mountains,
reckless
in my burgeon,
everywhere
unseen
If I was not a poet
I would be
blank,
a bare infinity
rewritten,
over
and over
again
and again
The Forest
When feeling lost
Go to the forest
Smell the trees
Take in the freshness
When feeling unease
Go to the forest
Feast upon nature
Walk amongst the trees
Listen to the wind
When feeling confused
Go to the forest
Sit amongst the beauty
Let it calm your soul
Let the beauty fill your heart
When not sure what to do
Go to the forest
Listen to answers
Let it inspire you
Plato’s cave
A fire dances in the dark.
Our souls are cast
as shadows
upon the wall.
We watch them
dance in remembrance,
twist away in fear,
vanish and change
in phases.
We feel the shivers
of premonition
consume us
yet
we writhe
in complicity,
helpless at our incapacity
to break free.
We stop nothing,
watching the shadows,
watch us.
We merely
remain
in the dark.
