Sometimes, giving up is harder than pressing on...write about a time when giving up was clearly the better option. Fiction or nonfiction, personal experience or a character. Did they succeed? Was it worth it, or was it a Pyrrhic victory? If given the chance to do everything over, would they make the same decision again?

Make a wanted poster
In seriousness, in jest... for the driver who sideswiped you in the parking lot and never looked back, for the guy who cut in line at the DMV, for a velociraptor you may or may not have misplaced in unmarked checked luggage during the layover...vent frustration or imply a story...go nuts and have fun!

I come from...
This is inspired by a tradition at a local middle school - every Thanksgiving, the fourth graders write about what they come from. Some of them take it much more literally, but the idea is to explain the traditions, memories, and stories behind who you (or your character) is. For example, going beyond "I come from Duluth" might entail the memory of making rhubarb pies with Grandmother, the first snowball fight of the year, canoeing. Truth, fiction, wishful thinking... anything goes! Please tag me in the comments so I can read your work.

It got Carstairs! And it's coming for us, too! Everybody loves an adventure...You have up to 5,000 words to describe an expedition to track a rare creature. Invented or pre-existing, give us a reason to root for the explorer (or maybe the 'beast').
