The third quatrain typically rounds off or completes the exploration of the theme. ● The rhyming couplet (or the third quatrain) provides a shift in thought or conclusion. Often sonnets pose a question and then this is resolved in the rhyming couplet. Or the couplet draws out a conclusion based on the theme in the quatrain.
