JAY.
Elizabeth: (sobbing) I don’t know what to do for him now. Please, help us pray for Jay.
The Chief healer sighed. The young lady could not stop crying. She wanted her child to be saved.
She instructed Elizabeth to bring the child to the temple. They had to act quickly.
The Chief healer saw it for herself. Jay had glowing red eyes. His skin was grey, it looked as if his body was decaying.
Elizabeth: This is my beloved son. (whimpers) I hope that you can be able to get him back to normal. His current state has been preying on my mind.
The Chief healer said to Elizabeth, “Don’t worry. Your son is in good hands.”
Elizabeth felt a little bit more calm after hearing the Chief healer’s helpful words. She was then asked to wait till they were done with the healing process.
The Chief healer and her group of diviners placed the child on an altar. They set candles around him and praying. With every stanza they uttered, the boy felt his mind being transported to another place.
He looked around the room. The walls seemed to be melting like wax. He blinked and the next thing he knew, he was standing in a wheat field. It stretched for many miles, wider than an ocean, so the kid believed.
When he tried to speak, someone told him to focus on finding his way back to the altar. He looked around for the source of the voice.
Not too far from him, was a little girl. She had long, and wavy raven hair.
Jay: Hello? How did I get here? Can you help me get back home?
The girl smiled and grabbed Jay’s hand. She transformed into a bird and they leaped into the air.
Jay held on to the bird’s back feathers. He took a deep breath. Where were they heading?
She swooped down and landed at a new location. Jay slid down her back. He thanked her for the ride.
The bird changed into the girl. She pointed at the lake. Jay walked over and bent down to stare at his reflection.
His eyes did not look human. He panicked. The girl knelt beside him and blew into his eyes.
Jay blinked a couple of times, rapidly. The girl told him to take another look at his reflection. So, he did.
He was happy to see his own hazel eyes. Jay turned around to thank her. He only found a black feather.
Then he heard many voices shouting praise and beating drums. He closed his eyes & the moment he opened them- he was back on the altar.
The Chief healer moved closer to the child. “Hello Jay. You look well.”
Jay smiled and showed the black feather to the Chief healer. Her expression changed, for about a little while, to that of serious concern.
The kid was focused on what he had in his hand that he missed it. The Chief healer asked Jay, “Where did the feather come from?”
Jay: From the girl in my dream.
The Chief healer replied, “I see. May I have a closer look at it?”
Jay: Okay.
She studied the feather and her eyebrows twitched. The Chief healer wondered why the girl had helped save the boy.
By the time the Chief healer was ready to find out more from Jay, she heard him shout- “Mom!”
She guessed that Elizabeth would soon show up. Jay hugged his Mom and smiled.
Elizabeth: Thank you Chief healer. You are mighty and worthy to be praised.
The Chief healer gave a slight bow and smiled. “Our work here is done. You can head home.”
She watched the two walk out the door. The minute they were gone, the Chief healer grabbed a bowl and placed the feather in it.
It was just as she suspected. Whatever had been preying on the kid had only been present for a trial. She said to herself, “What exactly do they want with Jay? Here I thought it was over and it looks like it’s only just began.”

Elsewhere
“I don’t know why we must do this. It is without sense. They have been doing so well, mostly, for a time anyway, at least since the flood.”
“Surely, you jest?”
“Certainly there were some low points, particularly in recent views – “
“Some?”
“Yes, some. But they were overshadowed by the high points! Think of when the tomes of scientific and mathematical knowledge that we had buried amongst the billions of cells in every human brain were finally accessed, analyzed, synthesized, and shared in more palatable form for the many.”
“For the few.”
“Okay, fine, but they did it and they are still attempting to make the information readily accessible by the many."
“Only insofar as it is externally stored and accessible by pressing a button. They prefer not to think but rather just assume what information appears before them on one of their machines is truth. They are actually using less of those billions of cells than in previous epochs when, in the opinion of those of this time, knowledge was limited. It may have been limited, and buried under layers of superstition and plain ignorance, but those with knowledge, were truly knowledgeable. Their own brains were the machines and they used them with infinite more skill than the present time. Now, knowledge, no information, is merely accessible.”
“Hmmm. Well, what about art, language, and literature? And, let us not forget the explosion of the industrial revolution…?”
“What of them? Did any of those developments help them not repeat the lessons ostensibly learned by their earliest ancestors? Every time we observe, they are living the same lives over and over again, only differing in the accoutrements, not the substance.
“Did any of this supposed progress actually help them advance inherently as a species? Has it taught them to use their brains to form words of peace rather than to produce weapons of war – with marked and continued success? Has any period of one hundred rotations around the sun actually passed without a life being ended for reasons that within 10 or 20 rotations were no longer meaningful to those taking the life, nor those left behind by the ones who lost it? Indeed, within 50 rotations, are not most of the perpetrators deceased and have not those left behind forgotten, or do they not even insist that whatever travesties occurred never happened?
“And is not history written by those with the pen, that is, those who prey upon the weak with the power of the sword, the gun, the bomb, the atom? And do they not write it as they, the few, wish it to be remembered, not as it really was for the many, that is to say, as we see it from our vantage point?
“Thusly, they damn themselves to constantly living with the results of selfish greed and ambition, rather than making way for…life as we know it.
“Sadly, with all the progress you praise, they are moving ever closer to wiping out all memory of their existence. Nothing will remember them. Not even us.”
“Do we have to let the free will experiment continue? Can’t we try another flood? There are good ones worth saving and giving another opportunity to be.”
“We have offered more than enough time and opportunity. Let them live or die as they will. It is no longer of our concern. The universe is infinite. We will start anew. Elsewhere.”
THERE IS A GOD!
I praise God. He is my savior and my higher power. I’m not a bible thumper by no means, but I truly believe that he was by my side when I should have been dead, not once, but twice.
The first rescue was on April 25th, 2007, when I was in a bad car crash where I was ejected, then thrown from my vehicle. I should have died and I didn’t.
The second rescue was on June 1st, 2014, while I was in the midst of my addiction. I bought a pain pill, so I thought it was a pain pill, but it was an anti-anxiety pill instead. I consumed it and it had an adverse effect due to the other medications I was taking at the time. Consequently, I overdosed and nearly died as a result, but I didn’t. It wasn’t until then I realized that something or someone had my back the entire time, both situations, both times.
Today, I’m lucky to be alive and I’m thankful. I pray each night and I thank him for all the blessings he’s given to me and this is where ‘praise and pray’ play a major role in this story. Praise the Lord, give thanks and pray!
Family
My earliest memories are of my mother’s praise after I made my first kill. I did exactly as she told me, from the moment I spotted my prey to the final killing blow, my knife across his neck. Weak and of no use to the family, it was my responsibility to see that he was dispatched cleanly and respectfully. It was right that I be the one to end his life, my brother, lest he turn around and end mine.
The zebras and the lions.
The prey, the praise,
they Praise for days,
For days to amaze,
At the wide open haze,
That shows them their ways,
And where they can graze,
With summers bright rays.
And long scary stays,
In the predators maze,
With their cold hearted gaze,
and the prey, they bay,
For they did not praise,
for the predators gaze,
That now will cause lays,
from they prey that praise.
The hunt
"Praise the lord! I found some prey!"
With this my family won't go hungry this evening.
I looked towards my prey. No, to be exact, it is preys'. Yes, that is right, it is a small family , 3 kids, and 2 parents.
They stare at me, shivering away in their loose skin. Their hunger strikes out at me from their drooping eyes, and skinny arms and legs. But what strikes me more is the fear in their eyes, the fear of death they know will come to them soon.
'Should I kill them?' is a question I have wondered many times, and every time I have decided I should. And the reason is simple. The lord made us above them, those weak creatures, with their flimsy limbs, and fragile heads. They were clearly made as our prey, for us to eat, to use as we so wish.
And so I pray, pray for a successful hunt, and pray for the continued well being of my family.
I begin rushing towards them, prepared to kill them all. I first smash down one of the parents, his bones snapping, and the loose skin covering their body is ripped apart. While they are a weak species, they can sometimes do some nasty tricks, so I will make sure to get rid of the strongest looking one first.
Then I got rid of the other parent, by whipping my arm into them, flinging them into a far off tree. With both parents down and dead for all appearances, there are only the small children left.
The noise these kids produce is horrendous, so I tear off the jaw of one of them. Ligaments rip, and muscles spring out of place, blood squirting everywhere. The child faints in agony, while the other two faint in fear. Good. Time to bring them back home as live prey for my family, it is always the tastiest.
Dragging the parents over, along with the small children, I go back home to my family. I didn't get a particularly good meal, but at least we won't go hungry tonight. I praise the lord for the successful hunt, and for the food we will have tonight. For tonight, we shall feast on humans!
