She Was a Flower

She looked like someone 

you'd meet in a garden, 

budding among lilies and orchids. 

And she spoke like someone 

you'd follow to the bottom of the ocean

just to see her before you drowned. 

And she laughed like someone

you'd joke with forever 

just to be surrounded by the sound. 

But I don't think people realize

just how hard it is for flowers

to stay above the ground.
