Yes, Dad, Just The Mosquitoes...
When I was pretty young, I decided I wanted to be a spider. My mother made a pretty cool spider costume where the arms would move with your two actual arms. Anyway, it was a pretty thick costume. So it got quite hot and itchy.
When we started our trick-or-treating, I felt a stinging sensation on my back.
"Daaaadd, my back itches."
"Yeah? It's probably just your costume."
So, I got over it and kept going. A few houses afterward, the itchy feeling came back.
"Daaaadd! It's itching again!"
"It's just the mosquitoes! Stop complaining or we are going home."
Grudgingly, I complied.
The next house, we knew the folks there well, so they let us in to enjoy some air conditioning. It was a pretty hot night.
Then it came back, and I could not stand it! I squirmed and jumped around until finally:
"Alright! If there is nothing but mosquito bites on your back, we are going home, ya hear me?"
He unzipped the back of my spider suit, and two wasps came flying out. We all freaked out, especially my father, who is severely allergic to them. After killing them, we inspected my back to find eleven bites and stings all over.
From then on, he trusted my judgement.
