in third grade,

they told me my hair was too long

so i went home and watched my beautiful brown locks fall gently to the ground

in sixth grade,

they told me i was too fat

so i stopped eating until i could feel my ribs prodding out as i tossed and turned at night

in ninth grade,

they told me i was attention seeking

so i covered my arms in a thick sweatshirt while the summer heat beat down onto me

in eleventh grade,

they told me i wasn't pretty enough

so i wasted hours standing in front of a mirror, crying until i could no longer see my reflection

in twelfth grade,

they told me to die

so that's exactly what i did.
