Moving on is different than forgetting
I can still remember that vibrant sunrise
You promised me forever
I let your face become my everything
And your every word consumed me
You promised me forever,
You thought I would forget?
I wore my favorite sweater that day
I do not wear it anymore
You thought I would forget,
That you were my raft in this vast ocean
How can I forget the very thing that grounded me?
I did not realize that I needed you, but you never needed me
You were my raft in this vast ocean,
but I have grown accustomed to drowning
I cannot breathe without you
The water made it hard to see beyond you
I have grown accustomed to drowning
How else do you think I learned how to swim?
I remember that sunrise from day one
But the next day, I saw a brand new sunĀ
