Are You in or Are You Out?
You have a choice, little did you know that you would receive communication from an agent who's mission you will hopefully soon join.
Before you start, you will need to know a little bit about the mission. Grab a glass of water, be sure you can focus on reading this before you sit to take it in. First, you will read how I started, so you can see what it's about, then you will receive direct instructions, you will be expected to follow that instruction at the conclusion of this post.
My Mission:
My mission started a little over a year ago, it was a PM to me on another writing site. The random person asked me if I was able to drop everything to help prevent large attacks all over the world.
"Yes, I suppose (Theoretically) that if I indeed was needed to save the world from tragedy, I would be willing to drop everything to save lives," was my response to the simple question.
What I received back was a destination followed by specific instructions as to what to do once I arrived. My world was about to change in a crazy way. My home was in a small town in the back country of Montana, boy sometimes I do miss that place.
"April 10th, 11:50AM, The Louvre Museum in France. That is where you will find out if you are ready for this service." The reply message came only moments after I had replied.
My mind was racing to figure out what I should do. What if this was some sick attempt to kidnap me, or to kill me for my passport once I arrived at the location. That is when my door bell rang, nearly caused my heart to stop as I spilled raspberry tea on my freshly pressed white shirt.
Running to the door, I found a package had been left on my front porch. There was a black van driving away down the street. It all felt very odd at first. Reaching down I grabbed the box, it was slightly heavy. There was a strong scent of fresh orange that radiated out of the package.
The package contained six fresh oranges and one large pomegranate. This all seemed rather odd and the pomegranate seemed out of place in the box. Before I could reach for the pomegranate, my phone rang, I dropped the box, spilling oranges all over my floor.
"Hello," I said answering my phone without even looking at who it was, "This is-"
I was cut off by a deep voice on the other end, "Open the pomegranate and remove the note, you will receive an exact location as to where the meeting place will be. Your house has been under surveillance for a few days now. You have been chosen to carry out a mission. You will not know exactly what you are doing until you arrive at the Louvre Museum in the exact location given."
The man hung up before I could even reply, but my curiosity had been sparked. The note in the pomegranate simply said (Akhenaton and Nefertiti.)
Google told me that it was one of the few Egyptian artifacts at the Louvre Museum.
"Well," I said out loud, " I have been saving for a vacation."
My mind was made, I purchased tickets to fly to the Museum two days before the meeting.
The day of the meeting my stomach was in knots. I had scoped out the place the day before and planned at least six routes of escape if things got hairy.
I arrived at the location a few minutes early and stood in front of the Akhenaton and Nefertiti artifact. It was an interesting piece and my mind wandered as I made up a life story for the two people pictured.
"Unique piece isn't it Mr. Hixon," The voice of a strange woman came from right next to me, "It is one of my favorites, a ruler who rebelled against the very foundations of the Egyptian religions. A ruler who saw the need for change in their culture, and who saw that indeed there was only a single God to be worshiped. Next to him stood his wife, whom I believe was loved by the people; faithful to the man she loved and ruled alongside."
I turned to look at the woman, she was an older lady in her sixties at least. She looked as though she held a great deal of knowledge and also had not slept in a few days.
"You are about to embark on an exceptionally fun journey," The woman said turning to face the artifact again," You will get to learn much about the cultures of the world and you will get to travel the world. There will be some dangers you will face, and you will just have to deal with those the best you can. We are part of a unit that is merely a distraction, a face for the criminals to fear there is a stronger agent presence than there really is."
"How do they know that you are with the secret service or whoever it is?" My skepticism came across clearly, "And how will they know that I am an agent?"
"There is a criminal network that tries to keep track of all private spies in the field," the woman continued, "We have double agents within that ring that try to feed only the information we want them to see."
My mind was racing, this couldn't possibly be real, is the only thought I could hear clearly.
"Are you in or are you out?" The woman asked. " You must choose now."
"Um...," I tried to decide what to do, "It all sounds interesting, but.."
"In our out?" The woman said frustrated by my lack of decision.
"In," I heard the words come out of my mouth before I could stop them. My face filled with blood as adrenaline rushed through my veins.
"Good, I suggest you start a travel blog to make money," The woman smiled "We don't get paid for this, but you will experience life like never before."
Without another word, the woman handed me a slip of paper and rushed off into the crowd. On the paper was an address in China with a date and time. It was three months into the future.
My life started that day, it it also changed drastically that day. Traveling blogging and having a life filled with crazy happenings. I never know how I will get the next slip of paper with my new mission, but it always shows up. Sometimes it is days, sometimes months, in between I travel the world. I share my stories as a blog and make enough to sustain this crazy mission.
So are you in or are you out?
