Another Sleepless Night
Fifteen minutes past the three a.m. hour
Nose wont open, eyes wont close
Ears attentive to the whispers of the house
Body combusting, heart beating
Mind racing, head deep in my pillow
Another sleepless night
Insomnia raids, stealing sleep like treasured gold
Leaving me twisted, turned in linen covered bondage
The darkness of my room is nothing new
It comes back to sight like a recurring dream
I wish I could dream right now
But thoughts consume every useless minute
Forty-five exactly as the clock beeps the hour
Eyes have their fill of the night
And won't lull towards a passive close
Pillow lays like a brick beneath my weary head
Mind saves the memories for another day
I lay flat, numb to the thought of anythingAnother sleepless night
