A Smile
A smile she's painted onto her face,
And displayed for the world.
Young beauty, youthful love;
With a baby on the way.
Aglow as an expectant mother should be,
What a sight she is to see.
But when she goes home,
And no ones around.
Her smile drops,
And the tears gush out.
She's given it all up;
Everything for love.
And waits around all day for the man that she loves.
The man who never rushes home,
And comes home only when she's sleeping.
He takes all she gives,
And selfishly steals her young soul away,
Leaving her sitting and pining over him all day.
She knows she should leave and stop wasting her time.
But her heart just can't agree with her mind.
Her heart is too filled of the past,
Of when he only desired her so,
And his love was all her own.
The days when he caressed her,
And kissed her lips sweetly.
Whispered he loved her,
And filled her with desire.
All since long gone,
and only mere memories.
But still she waits,
And hopes for the day,
Her man will reciprocate,
The love she has for him.
