White Knight
Lo and behold, what does she see
An arsenal of weapons fit to decimate millions
There's shotguns and nooses and axes galore
It's a burden to carry but do so she must
For there is an army floating like phantoms beside her
Rifles cocked and reflexes at the ready
Awaiting one lapse in judgement
One distraction
Once mistake
That gives them an opportunity to strike
They never have one, though
She is always in control
Lookouts performed tirelessly, and none make it over the fence
But, you know, all that defending gets tiresome
Sometimes she wonders why she fights
So just to see what might happen
She pretends to drop her guard
Ah, what a relief it is
She finally feels free
But footsteps come and her stomach drops, as the enemy approaches
She asks herself if she's gone too far
But the answer is surely no
They can go a little further
Come a bit closer
For she desperately needs her rest
It's funny how desire grows
To slowly be overtaken
Their laughter echoes, she hears her breath
And the fence begins to rattle
Her eyes are shut, she wants to sleep yet she knows that cannot happen
An anger grows, a feeling shows, and to her dismay she must listen
Why must she listen? She hasn't a clue
But she wishes she could make it stop
She outstretches her hand
And almighty she stands
Fighting them off another day
