Whispers on the Wind
Echoing through me,
Your voice offers comfort.
But the meaning is lost as it filters through my heart.
Because it is empty,
So your love passes through,
My heart capturing none to save for another day.
It races through my lungs,
And then out my mouth,
As the wind steals it away forever.
Walking away,
With a hollow feeling in my chest,
I try not to look back,
But temptation is always too strong.
You are there as usual,
But I am already too far gone.
So I carry on,
Walking aimlessly towards a something,
Because there must be a something, somewhere.
The only feeling I have is a hope that someday I will find a something,
That will fill up the emptiness within.
I am far too lost,
When I hear a blurred whisper on the wind,
Just barely audible,
So I follow it.
Circling back to the place where you held out your arms,
Whispering reassurances in my ear.
And there you stand,
Still ready to hold me close,
And at last I am ready to hear.
