There once was a dog...
I live a very simple, quiet country life on 3 acres. I've had animals of almost every kind at different points in my life, but I've always had dogs.
Dogs have always been like my angels watching and taking care of my children and now me. You have met my Service Dane, Tigger, he really takes care of me by physically helping me with day to day tasks.
The Dane pup I was training, Juno, I had to find a pet home for her. She did not have the temperament to be a service dog.
I have a Doberman I named Dobby because he looked like the house elf in Harry Potter.
When I got him he was 2 months old and weighed 10lbs! His hind legs were broken and they were just letting him die at the pound. I don't know if he was hit by a car, or if he was abused, I didn't care I just knew he still had a spark in his eyes. So I fed him spoonfuls of canned dog food every two hours and had him sip water from a spoon. To use the bathroom I fixed a sling for his rear and it was as if I was walking a puppy.
At the time I was fostering little puppies until transportation could pick them up, and he learned to play and forgot he was broken. Instead he went outside to play with every body else! At first he crawled, but before I knew it he was up and running around with everyone else! I CRIED. You could say that
Dobby the Doberman is my Hero.
When I start feeling depressed about my handicap, I remember what that scrapper of a puppy went through for me because I believed in him so why would I stop now?
Dobby and Tigger are brothers they were raised together and if Dobby has anxiety about something or someone he hides under Tiggers belly when they are standing it's hilarious! The look he has is "well only if it's ok with my big brother!"
PRICELESS!
Over the last 20yrs I've rescued horses, donkeys, bunnies, goats, and dogs oh and a couple of sweet kitties.
All I have left are my dogs now.
I still cry about my beloved horses.
But my family won't let me get another
Horse since I can't ride and they can hurt me.
So I'll just stick with big dogs.
