Orion

I was wrong.

I used to believe

Constellations were a vain creation

A whimsical attempt to extract meaning

From the presence of light

To find method in an abyss of darkness

However

Now I understand

Their enticement

Elaborate distractions

Offering ubiquitous fantasies

Countless dreams enslaved to our sky

That transcend my dull existence

Providing hope

Of beauty in this life

A naïve comfort

Awaiting desolate entities

Despite their unobtainable distance

My eyes wander

In search of a drowned radiance

To indulge in their merciful diversion

From my own reality

As I gaze upon stars

Far away from this planet

Far away from me.
