Breathless
I always thought this day would never come but always hoped. I regret those talks with my friends of what we would do, who would we save and where'd we go. I never thought of the horror behind it. When the blood that gets splattered on you and the screams of people...children being torn apart like raw chicken isn't from a video game. The true horrors of this moment are the farthest from joy. I woke up early today from Wills house. The skies were grey as the snow was beginning to drop. I didnt mind this cold weather. It was calm, relaxing. My house wasn't that far anyway. I would have to cross the neighborhood go into the park and out the other side. Only thirty minutes. Everything and everyone seemed to be still asleep. It was like walking in a desert. No sound for miles. This is the last piece of peace I will ever attain. I got about two blocks in the neighborhood when I began to hear that tortured soul. It sounded if someone was gasping for air. "Ku-uuuh...Ku-uuuh!" I jumped and turned around. I thought I was going to see a someone on the floor choking. What I turned to was not a human no more. A man about 10 meters away stood still looking at me. His head would jolt back every time he made that noise "ku-uuuh". The veins on his temple pulsated so fiercely I noticed them from where I stood. He looked as if he was almost crying. As if he knew want he was going to do. His red eyes fixated on me. "Ku-uuuh" again his head whips back. I was freaked out. It wasnt until I noticed his lips had a dark burgundy syrup dripping down on his shirt. That I began to walk back. His long legs twitched forward. "Ku-uuuh". I jolted down the street screaming begging for anyone to come out. He chased after me like some mangled spider. Almost galloping. "Ku-uuuh! Ku-uuuh! Ku-uuuh!" I made a B-line to someone's back yard and jumped the fence. Banging on the screen door. I could hear his heaving in the distance. He wasnt too far. I slammed my way through the screen door I climbed in hoping for anyone. I yelled again running up stairs. Before I opened the door I heard it again "Ku-uuuh" along with the snapping of what sounded like twigs. I gasped when I looked up at the door and saw "Bently!" Written like a child was on a banner tied to the frame. My eyes began to water as I knew what on the other side of that door. I fell to my knees. This wasn't like the movies this was hell on earth. I stood there frozen. Then with the grace of God I heard a whimper from the room down the hall. I krept into the door. Finally some goodness. A baby no more than a year old lied there on the mattress. He was hefty for his age. His arms and legs were thick and had many rolls. I quickly grabbed him and headed back to the door. I had to save this boy. Cradling him and headed back down the stairs as fast as I can. I would like to say we made it out...I would like to say the man wasn't there. I'm trapped in the basement now. I want who finds this to know I'm so sorry. Oh God I'm so sorry.
