Obscurity

I will follow you into the dark

as watchful eyes click

like a spying camera shutter,

windblown zeppelins flying

into blackest of skies,

smoky explosions

rousing the night,

splashing on scraps

of black fabric pieces.

Jangling noises hide

from shadows

in poorly lit places,

dancing to sorrow

from haunting violins,

grabbing shallow connections

not anchored at all,

wearing pliant masks

to cover gray thoughts -

but I won’t ever attempt

to cross into the past

for I have

allowed shade

to take over my soul

and stepped across

entrance

to darkness

where we both

now dwell.
