Her laugh broke the silence.
It was like the very first day you hear birds outside your window after a long winter. It was calming, refreshing, and it felt as though a weight was lifted off the shoulders of everyone in the room.
A head or two turned in curiosity, only to find a girl stifling her chuckles in the palm of her hand. The young boy sat beside her kicked his feet, likely in anticipation to leave. Small children like him usually don't find weddings very compelling, and he for sure had some sort of video games awaiting his return home.
A short while later the party began to file out of the church, ready to get into their cars and take the trip to the reception hall. The girl and young boy held hands while crossing the parking lot and she helped him into the backseat.
Now at the reception hall, lights flashed, music played, people danced, and there was not a single moment of silence. The melodic sound of laughter filled the room from top to bottom, and the girl never felt more at home.
