CYS_ this is a frightening, moving poem. Having read my writes, you sense no doubt how I feel about Home. Hence, I read this simply put as Rape. No, no not with feminist outrage against sexual assault—the very base definition as the imposition of another’s will against the sacred center of an Other (like Mankind against Mother Earth)… Obviously you are discussing individuals here. But No! CYS I do not “hate your soul!” for such a potent write :o I know you penned this with your heart in the place of opposition to a wrong, with all decency. I do have difficulty overlooking the line: “Give me your name, the only thing the dead keep,” it strikes me as a obtrusive logical fallacy… which can be effectively mitigated by something like “Give me your name, only Silence the dead keep.” The third repetition of “Have you forgotten...” seems to me to unnecessarily weaken the impact of the ending. Consider the possibility of combining as a line in itself, “Give me your keys: you’re no longer human.” The handing over of keys, in my read being the locking up of the Spirit; and the “open your door…” as the final collection of the Soul. It is a gripping poem! Really well done. Please don’t let my reactions unnerve you… I am centering my orbit, so no worries! Tag me anytime and let’s write on : ) Mavia
