Static Moon

By the static moon, the static moon

Where vapors hang in dismal June

Where I wandered a day

In haphazard way

Came across cinders charred

And elms burned to gray

And that fervid moon

Led me in aghast so soon

That static moon

Is where the ashen soul lay

This visage supernal, darkened and lustered

Under crescent moon, eyes opened and flustered

Queen of the gaunt, the ruins of trust

Clothed the murky moon in celestial dust

A final goodbye to all her fame

Her heart she lets rust

From weeping and shame

Queen of order, staunch in test

Slaved for love in cold unrest

A sight so morose dangling so garish

She'll never awake her soul will perish

Please static moon, oh static moon

You're not just a shape in dismal June

O static moon so far up above

A fatal shape to the one without love
