Forecasting the Weather
So, here I am in Florida, waiting for Irma to come knocking down my door. I have weather.com open in a browser window, and I refresh it from time to time, to see the progress of the hurricane, and I noticed something- the hurricane has been moving from east to west, on a more or less horizontal path. The charts all predicted that it would make a rapid change in direction north.
When the hurricane was further to the east, that would have sent it up the Eastern coast of Florida. That did not happen, instead it just moved West.
Time passed and they predicted it would head up the middle of Florida. Again, that did not happen. It just moved West.
Now they predict it will come up the West coast of Florida. My guess? It is going to continue to move West, it will not hit Florida at all, and will eventually hit New Orleans, or maybe even Huston again.
So I cooked everything in my freezer for nothing.
At least it gave me an excuse to finish off a whole container of ice cream.
