Challenge
You're taking the last breath of your life. What do you see? Who is around you? Have you done anything significant with your time on earth?
You could be in a hospital after a long healthy life, have just been in a car accident, or at home and suddenly be hit with a stroke. The way you 'bite the dust' is up to you alone.
The Comfort of the Shadows
I see darkness, or perhaps see nothing. I hear someone giggle, no, not someone; I hear her giggle. She's near. It's been so long, so terribly long but I hear her, feel her near me. I reach out and grasp at nothing except for the heavy, drowsy dark. She's near, and then far. She's gone. She's moved on. Once again, I'm left behind as she moves on to a new realm without me, leaving me behind. They beauty of our world was just as dark as this new one without her. I settle in, just like I had before, and wait for a second, merciful death, to follow her on, forever more, from one god's playground to the next, until she, the only light my soul could ever see, notices me once more.
