Challenge
Write a short story about a group of kids going Trick or Treating. How the situation plays out is up to you. Scary, funny, slice of life, etc.
Just as it says in the prompt above...
Trick or Treat
Out at the curb I wait, flashlight in hand;
I smile and watch them venture to the door.
A pirate, ghost, and witch -- my merry band
of children, seeking goodies by the score.
My oldest boy tonight an eye patch donned,
the youngest one cut eye holes in his sheet.
Their sister, with a pointed hat and wand
is leading this excursion to get treats.
The annual tradition did begin
at dusk upon this cold October night;
a smiling face carved into a pumpkin
echoes their young expressions of delight
For jack-o-lantern porches surely mean,
“Welcome children, and Happy Halloween!”
