Abandoned Beauty
She was a marvelous facination to behold
Like worlds living upon worlds within her soul
Open and free flowing to the ebbs and pulls of life
Taking pleasure and joy in all thoughts silent and shared
She wasn’t one for materialistic things, but desired a bond
Something happened when she put away things of old
The quake and shake of chaos were all too familiar
Where calming peace felt alarming and threatening
Her most loved treasures were things that were abandoned and forgotten
Something about beauty in pain just struck a chord
Maybe, it was because she felt the same, in some strange way
But in a brief moment, as she reflected on all they shared
She realised what she couldn’t believe
Although, both the building and the girl were left alone
Both stood tall to weather their storms
With a foundation that never collapsed
Her eyes gazed over all the ivy and growth surrounding the lonely place
The way the sunset behind the rooftop, with the light softly fading
An air of hopeful longing caused her to walk the isolated halls
Running her hands along the walls she closed her eyes
Wishing they could open up and talk, wondering if they were lonely too
Closing her eyes she could see the home in its prime
A time where things were happy and joyful
With new memories to be made around every corner
The building without speaking a word stood silently
Conveying all her soul could not
Once filled with love, happiness, and laughter
An empty shell that stands alone
And in the halls you hear her scream
I was once loved too…
