Trapped
I look up at the night sky
only to find myself stuck on the ground.
In the inconceivable vastness of space
I am struck on this small rock called Earth
cursed to live my entire life on the shore
unable to explore the depth
of the cosmic ocean
always wondering what creatures
lies just beyond the horizon
I can not leave the shore
Or even wet my feet
in the shallowest part of its waters
only a select few can do that
And I am not among them
No I am forever stuck on the shore
Atlas, the ultimate frontier
remains just out of reach
I look at the night sky
with tears running down my cheek
And the cold wind
sending sharp pains down my back
As I realize this is all I will ever see
I am not just struck on the shore
No, I was born trapped in a cage
With no key to escape
All I can do is sit and wonder
