I’m not Lonely...Just Alone by Choice
Welcome to my world, a world of aloneness,
There are many reason for being alone—
Maybe you don’t like being around people
Or you’re sick with a deadly contagious disease.
Perhaps you want to live away, a hermit, so you
Can view life through undistorted lenses.
Being alone is often something that you choose,
Being lonely is not, because if it were, no one would be
Lonely.
And being alone is often almost always temporary
But being lonely can seem to drag on, day after day,
Forever.
I said I choose to be alone, but I say this for a reason
Because I don’t want to believe the truth—
The truth being that I am lonely, and not by choice.
Of course, I would probably choose to be alone, even if
I weren’t lonely, because choosing to be alone is better
Than having your so-called friends choose lonely for you.
