Reaper Explains It All: Faith

Interesting ideology though Reaper sees it a bit differently or more accurately almost in a reverse assignment. Going by the Hebrews 11:1 definition. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. By definition faith has a substance to it, much more tangible and involved than a wish which is often fleeting. That said faith is more akin to belief than hope and can more clearly be characterized as a solid belief in something. You have faith in your ability to defeat your opponent. You believe you have adequately prepared for an exam. Both statements come with a level of confidence.

Let’s try again using hope. You have hope in your ability to defeat your opponent. You hope you have prepared adequately for an exam. The confidence from the earlier examples seems to be lacking in the latter, no? That’s because hope although still possessing elements of belief operates on a smaller scale. Hope is a desire to see something come to pass. This desire creates a belief in the possibility it can occur. In addition hope is more fragile. This is due to Faith typically possessing foundational bases while hope can spawn from wistful thinking. Such as I hope that gorgeous girl sits next to me. You might have a hope of something occurring without any inclination that it would.

It is easier to make a hopeful person loose hope than it is to make a faithful person lose faith. Using the examination example again you might say my hopes in my preparations were shattered once I saw the 1st question. There’s something of a flow as a person transitions from hopeful to hopeless. Let’s try once more using Faith. My Faith in my exam preparations were shattered once I saw the 1st question. The sentence still makes sense but doesn’t it seem a bit dramatic? Almost like your jumping to extremities. However if phrased my faith in my exam preparations was shaken as soon as I saw the 1st question the sentence seems to flow better as a person goes from confident to cautious.

For a final example people who have faith in God do not pray with a hope they will be heard. It's more accurate to say they pray believing they will be heard. On the flip side a person who does not have faith in God might find themselves in a desperate situation and decided to cry out to God with hope of being heard. To say these people believe in God would be a bit presumptuous. Rather, driven by a desire to rectify a dire situation the individual clings to a possibility that someone somewhere will hear of their plight and rescue them. The notion of this possibility creates hope. So it is accurate to say the person hopes God can hear them. There is a level of uncertainty to what they desire to come to pass.

All said and done however this is simply Reaper's view on the matter. Hope, faith, and belief are all such beautiful and inspirational concepts and often take a personized characteristic based on individual explanation. Reaper could talk on will also but in Reaper's viewpoint it fall in a seperate catagory and that would require another several pages. Reaper tends to be longwinded…
