Do you hear me in the silence of the night

the silence so gentle

yet so oppressive.

It pushes onto you

like a ten-ton weight

it swallows you

until you can barely breathe.

When it is the corner

I find most comfort in

not the moonlight

nor the unending breaths.

Do you hear me in the silence of the night

when my throat wants to scream

my tears want to overflow

but

when i am too afraid

To break the silence.
