how a simple smile can communicate

It doesn't matter if two don't speak the same language

Or if no words come can be spoken

A small gesture

cuts through all words

A grin lightens once-dull eyes

and a warm embrace makes

lengthy words you plan in your head

disappear

You don't need a thousand syllables

to tell someone you are there for them

You're just there, by their side

My hand holds a small, delicate one

A wrinkled hand that is tired, beaten, and ready to let go
