The Shaft

Pour it down a deep dark shaft,

never to be seen again.

They scold and call me daft,

but I couldn't tell them when it ends.

I'm joined by mice and men alike

around the dark shaft we stay.

They tell me it will be alright.

They tell me down here we'll play.

Pour it down along the walls,

so everyone can see your shame.

I'm considered twisted, but I hear the call

of the mice and men with me today.

I'm joined by the lost no more

and in the black we play.

They tell me there's a price, a cost.

They tell me that forever, I'll stay.
