What the Blind Man Saw
He knew the sounds of the creatures within the wood,
The touch and feel of life where he stood.
He could feel the air in between the trees,
He could sense even more than this girl see’s.
The very hum of life itself,
Not described by any book on a shelf.
He could see what no other could,
The threat and peace he thought he should.
He was a hermit, a loner, forever alone,
With his silver winged falcon who used a special tone.
The falcon had taught him to survive,
Had taught him when to fight and when to hide.
This girl was naive, to think she could win in here,
After all, the Forbidden Forest had many creatures to fear.
He knew his sight would never come back,
But he knew that he could survive any attack.
He saw the spirit of the forest as easy as she saw,
They knew the way of the forest law.
It was survival of the fittest in this scary place,
But he, despite his blindness, saw her determined face.
She continued on despite her fears,
And refused to fall into tears.
He saw a woman he could not shove,
He saw a woman he could grow to love.
