Giving Somebody Space

Let’s not let time pass

gently between us, a cast

for broken pieces.

Let’s glue this bitch together.

Get the safety pins and gum

and hate ourselves

and lay together touching nothing,

saying nothing,

and cry when we realize

our glue and gum didn’t hold

and the thing’s still all broken.
