In the Company of Liars
The liar’s dulcet words
carved a wide channel
in the rage of the sea.
The errant waves
collapsed
threatening my mortality,
fingers of foam
sweeping me
in tumbles of brine.
I grabbed
the crested surge,
dazzled by its promise
to rescue me
but it lied
as
am I.
