The borders

Before it all falls apart

Before the leaves fall brown

Before the frost bites.

It’s time to take delight,

Daring ourselves in ways,

Imagining the paths

That will be locked,

Those paths of umber

Running by the comb,

Before they turn to slush.

But fear not the cold,

The warm place will we rekindle.

Traversing those wollen fences,

Until we cross over yet again

To the greening.
