The Things That Made Me

"Things will get better,

tomorrow is a new day."

I wasn't sure then.

Mom raised us alone-

grace and strength during hard times.

Lots of rainy nights.

Missed him for three years,

but then Dad came back to us.

God must have heard me.

My sister and I,

children of five and seven.

Oh how far we've come.

So now when skies are darkened, and hope seems far away,

I remember Grandpa's words: "Tomorrow is a new day."
