Fragile Fantasy

I feel I must warn you, my dear. I am fantasy. I will play to your every dream, reflect each desire. I will show you to the entrance of indulgence, but the moment you get too close, the moment you try to grasp hold of me, I will disappear. I’m like a fragile breath of fire, a flame extinguished by the slightest sigh of an approaching body. I will forever remain just out of reach, separated by that thin veil which holds illusions from joining the solid realm of reality. If you choose to ignore my warning, as so many have, I welcome you to find solace in my arms. You may experience the heaven of my embrace for as long as you can hold yourself at bay. However, the moment you begin to strive for more I will be ripped from your side. I am an impossible longing which will never cease. I warn you with such sincerity you will never push me away. You have been enchanted. Make the most of our time, bask in moonlight until your heart can no longer block its own rays. Then, I will fade.
