Midnight
The clock struck midnight and the lightning struck behind our home. I remember it like it was yesterday. My sister and I shared a bedroom and the blood churning sound the lightning made as it struck that tree still plays in the back of my mind today. My sister was just shy of ten years old and myself I was twelve. The boom must've shook us awake as it happened. My father's voice echoed down the hall as the tree came tumbling down on top of our bed. The fire was so hot and so dry. I remember yelling for my father but not being able to reach for him. I remember the red's and oranges as I reached for my sister as she was pulled away from the tree. I remember the pain in my leg and the pain in my head as it throbbed. I shrieked in terror. I started to see a light and I walked towards it. It all went dark for a while and I woke up in a different unknown place. I remember it like it was yesterday because that was the day I went to heaven. As I look down on my little sister and my parents I watch as they weep there day's away but I know that they'll find comfort in eachother because I am not hurting. I barely hurt the day it happened because it all happened so fast. It was a freak accident and it could've happened at anyone's house but it happened at mine that night at midnight.
