Cat Café
5: Food
“I liked this café the best.” I said rather proudly. It was an adorable cat café. The cats lined the window sitting view lazily. “It has good cat-puccinos.” I made a pun, but he didn’t seem too amused.
“You…” He held onto his coffee drink and looked curiously at me. I gave a small sniffle at his look. “You do realize you are allergic?”
I blinked, as much as I could. My eyes were slowly swelling up, I felt it. “Mhmm.” I nodded. “But, they are so gosh darn cute!”
He gave a small sigh then chuckled. “Of course.” He grabbed the cinnamon shaker and put more sprinkles onto his coffee foam. “You are right though, they have good food.”
Oh, the food here. Unlike any other. I took another drink of my cappuccino, it was caramel flavored. The drink would cause a new feeling that warm me, yet the drink was so cold. The music would become increasingly warmer with the low tenors coming out. The room would accentuate on the brown colors and dampen the creamy bright colors. I felt a sense of comfort inside, a sense of liquid warmth. “Say, you wanted some of the cake, right?” He said with just the same warmth the colors brought.
“How’d you know?” I acted shocked, but it was clear I’d think of cake. He got up and went to the cashier for some of the delicate fluffy cake. I was stuck with the cats.
Every cat here had a cute food name. Latte with the fluffiest Burmese cat you’d ever pet! Her muzzle and chin were blotched with a dark nice brown with the tip of her tail and paws, but the rest of the fur was a delicate and loving cream color that I adore. Macchiato was like a slim version of Latte, only with two fluffy lines for her eyebrows. She was more of a tabby than a plain Burmese, but she was nonetheless adorable!
One of the cats kept laying on me whenever I’d come and visit, and it was the black and white patched cat named Oreo. He was particularly fluffy and big. No Norwegian forest cat, but on the chubbier side of cats (for sure)! Oreo was mellow and calm, only getting up when food was involved. Maybe that’s why he’d stay with me, I always had a sort of coffee or food when I was here.
“Back.” He came back, having the cake in his hands. I noticed he wore a pair of cat ears to match his brown hair. “And with cake.”
I couldn’t help but chuckle. “You also came back with ears.” I laid my head on his shoulder, Oreo shifted to make himself comfortable again. I ate a bit of the newly acquired cake, vanilla flavored! My favorite! “Mank oo.” I muffled with the food in my mouth. I think my “thank you” was well intentioned to be noticeable. I straightened myself and ate some more. Oreo sniffed and licked a little bit of frosting off my plate. Luckily, everything was edible and completely safe for both humans and cats. The single best thing about this café! I felt a headband wrap the top of my head and scrapped between my scalp and ears. “Wha?” I looked at him.
“We’re in a cat café.” He looked at me and tried his best not to burst out laughing. “You’re probably… Pumpkin.” At that inquire, he gave a chuckle and shuffled a laugh. I gave him my cake filled plate and lightly picked Oreo off me to set him on the floor. I got up and saw myself in the rounded mirror on the wall for decoration. I had a pair of tabby cat ears on my head. The ear felt was perfectly fit into my hair color, both orange colors. My eyes at this point were not the cleanest, they were swollen over in the short time we stayed here. I looked back, seeing him laughing quietly as to not disturb any cats.
I smiled, seeing himself in the brown cat ears. “Oh, if I’m Pumpkin.” I returned into my position, he gave my food back to me. “You would be…” I took a finger of the vanilla cream on my cake and tapped his nose. “Vanilla.”
The cats started coming up to “Vanilla” and tried to lick his nose of the free delicate food. “Why Vanilla?”
“You have a very sweet personality.” I cooed, Oreo getting back and laying his head on my leg. “But also, because you’re pale.” I laughed. He looked shocked at the sudden change. A cat jumped up and licked his nose. “Aw, Caramel liked that! She likes Vanilla!” I cooed, laughing all the while.
He rolled his eyes and laughed along. “Whatever, Pumpkin.” He scooped a bit of frosting… and some of the cake… and plopped on my nose. I wiped the mess of my nose and ate it. He looked frustrated by the common sense, instead of the cats walking over and licking the icing off my face.
I brought my sleeve to my face and sneezed, my allergies officially have taken over. “We better get going, before you completely become blind.” I ate the rest of my cake and left the cat room. The fresh air outside of the cat room was a nice feeling on my swollen eyes. I took my caramel cappuccino and had “Vanilla” take me home.
A Vanilla and Pumpkin Cappuccino, a harvest themed drink. Don’t you think?
