Sanctuary
Heavy, weighs the toils of day
How I long for my foundation
Loose me from the burdened ways
To the hands of all creation
Let me frolic; fields of blossoms
Sway with gentle breeze
Careless, as I dance
Upon your ground with barren feet
Call the winds toward me
And breathe new life, my soul
Create a song in my heart
Ancient melody of old
Refresh my soul with waters
Flowing freely of your springs
Cascading from the mountains
Snow-capped, that feed your creeks
Serenade me; birds of sonnet
Their melody, “Fare Thee Well”
Array your sky majestic
When the sunlight rents the veil
Whisper secrets over me
As gusty winds whisp clouds
Forms them into lions, dragons
Knights and glistening swords
Kiss my face; warm are the rays
Green grass my bed to lay
Wrap me in the blanket of
Oak trees casting shade
This place, your sanctuary
Of healing, grace, divine
You quench my thirst and feed my soul
And cause my heart to rhyme
