Chapter 1: Akane Jitsuko
“Don’t! I’m not niave! I know what you want from me! You want my power and I’ve sick of it! Leave me alone,” a young Akane Jitsuko yelled at her Mother. This isn’t the first melt down she had, paranoid with the thoughts of being used and betrayed. Then cast aside when her parents were finished using her for her power.
“Akane,” her Mother tried soothing her as she’s done everytime before, trying to assume her daughter that she wasn’t being used. She reached down to her daughter, only to get her hand engulfed in flames. Her Mother screamed out in pain which snapped Akane out of her episode, healing her Mom with her ice.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” Akane started with her guilt fulled apology once again. The smell of burning flesh was enough to make them both sick, but Akane was too busy crying tears of ice to pay attention to the smell.
“It’s okay, Akane. I know better than to touch you when you get like that, you didn’t mean it,” Her Mother said trying her best to comfort her mentally unstable daughter. Pulling Akane into a weak hug she whispered to her, “Remember what I told you for when you get like that.”
“Right, just take a deep breath and let it all go,” Akane mumbled back.
Akane is only ten but she’s already suffering the pain of mental illness. One day this paranoia grew too strong, her house was burning to the ground at a rate that the flames are running out of things to consume. Screaming, so much screaming, but it seemed like music to the young girl’s ears.
Akane watched as her home was cremated. By the time the fire department got there, nothing was left but ash, it was only the smell of a fire that has recently gone out. The fire won, the mental illness won. The true evil has won.
