I was breathless when I reached the end of the alley. Dim lights shadowed me as I looked over my shoulder, panting and shaking.
It was still there, right behind me.
I couldn’t outrun it.
I couldn’t hide from it.
My past followed me everywhere.
Chasing me.
It always would.
