Fantomatique.
The night sky was dreadful. Andrew squinted his eyes, trying his best to look for at least even one star. But none were in sight!
He sighed, then brushed his hands over his apron & placed the paintbrushes on the table. The jar of water was filled with an assortment of paint. Each strand of colour swirled in the now murky~like water— like a rainbow. What a peculiar mix!
Andrew loved spending time drawing the night sky in his back garden. During the night, he was able to get more of his artwork done without worrying about being interrupted by many folks, who seemed to need him to assist them in nearly all their household tasks. Of course, he would not stop helping his neighbor. It was the right thing to do. Besides, there were some tasks that he would ask for help that didn’t require many hands on deck for.
He rubbed his eyes and yawned. The lights by the house were quite bright that they made him feel like it was not so late in the night.
By the moment that he was ready to get to the verandah door, he heard a piercing screech. Something flew right before his eyes and then swirled around his head. He waved his hands in panic- what in the world could be after him?
To his horror, the night sky suddenly became even much darker than before. He looked up and saw a colony of bats flying toward him. In a state of terror, Andrew rushed to the door and tried to open it. Within a nanosecond, something swooped onto his left shoulder. It then transformed into a cloaked figure.
Andrew screamed and fell to the floor. The cloaked being had striking scarlet eyes and stared into Andrew’s eyes.
Suddenly, Andrew felt at ease. He was so calm and even at peace. The figure standing before him seemed to be less terrifying. In fact, he was enchanted by the being. He stared in awe at the being’s face. Never before had he seen anyone or anything as beautiful. He was thinking about working on creating a portrait of this beautiful being.
Her eyes were dazzling like stars. So, she must have stolen the stars from the night sky!
Andrew was out of it...his mind wandered about fixed on the being’s beauty that he paid no attention to his reality. She smiled with grand delight!
This was going to be her easiest and quickest kill. She kissed his forehead, & moved her hand through his hair.
Then with precision, she bit into his neck. The taste of his blood satisfied her thirst.
Her craving for human blood never stopped. In fact, it became stronger with every era that passed.
She thought she’d be able to stop herself from her going for another hunt. But as she looked at Andrew, and listened to his slow heartbeat- she knew it was too late to stop herself. She had already taken more than what she needed. Andrew’s eyes made her feel some form of guilt. His heart started to beat ever more faintly.
That was it! She got up and snapped his neck. Even if she could wait till that final heartbeat, it felt like her own heart was slowly dying away with his. That made her feel so uneasy.
The bats called ‘n’ screeched. She licked her lips and transformed into a bat. She flew off with Andrew’s memories still coursing in her mind.
Ah, she smiled and truly was glad that he had thought about painting a portait of her. It had been a while since she had actually seen what she looked like. She was grateful to have had seen a glimpse of her own image through Andrew’s memories.

The Score - The Heat Lyrics
**************************************
A gasp of air filled his lungs. He felt parched.
Looking around him, he wondered what had happened? Oh, her— whoever she was-
Huh, that was odd. The last thing he remembered was gazing into her eyes.
Hmm, where had she run off to? He could try to find her~ wherever she was hiding...
