Ghost
Hello good sir,
would you lead me right?
On this chilled
and moonless night?
So young I travel
with no guide
would you take
my lonely side?
Do not fear,
how many lies
could lay beyond
a child's eyes?
Take my hand,
hold your candle high
while I sing
this lullaby
In my innocent voice
so soft and light
it doesn't fit
with this incredulous night.
Does your trust grow thin
from eyes so wild?
Do not fear
what harm can come from a little child?
Your hand does tremble
on my palm so cold
remembering those stories
you were told,
Trust not the stranger,
be not fooled by disguise
but what danger is there
from a child with insane eyes?
Watching you now
from far below
clasping your hand
as we go.
Such a kind sir
to lead me my way
the poor lost child
who had gone astray.
Patience now
for home is near
though the town is gone
far from here.
See those gates?
rusted and black?
Surrounding the stones
isolated that lack?
That is where I reside.
Come now can't you stay?
It gets so lonely
and you'll eventually have to lay
here in its grounds,
we all will come
buried very deep
when the journey is done.
How strange it is
watching you try to flee
though my laughter is high
with childish glee.
Hair gone white
your face to boast
screaming almost as if
you had seen a . . .
