I'm a little birdy...
My wife and I listen to a little birdy outside our living room window everyday. What's unusual about this birdy is that it chirps all day around the yard, and then sits in its nest right outside our window and chirps all night - 24 hours a day. We wonder if it ever sleeps.
Imagine you are the little birdy and write a short story or poem about why you sing all day and night.
No limit on entries or words.
The Bird’s Song
My talons curve around
The oak branch,
Gripping tightly
I gently flap my wings,
Gray feathers ruffling,
Ready for my song to begin
The sun rises,
Golden light shining bright
I chirp as it ascends,
Hoping my melody will reach you
I continue on,
Notes flowing from my beak,
Their sound soft and sweet
The sun wanes,
Its fire dipping back
Into a darkening sky
I chirp as it falls,
Hoping my melody will reach you
I continue on,
Notes flowing from my beak,
Their sound desperate and sweet
Stars begin to dot
The midnight canvas,
Their glow a guide
In the night
I chirp,
Hoping my melody will someday reach you
I continue on,
Notes flowing from my beak,
Their sound lost and devoid of hope
I sing for you
To return home
