“Lament of the Moon”

When asked what is the color of loneliness,

some often say it’s grey,

but when I think of being alone,

it‘s as blue as day.

Wide and empty as the sky,

not a cloud in sight,

the only company you have

are the stars that shine at night.

Even then you might not see them,

the clouds hiding their brilliance from view,

but that is how I often feel

when I’m not among you.

I may shine brilliantly at times,

the light casting love below,

but half of the time when I’m alone,

all you see is my shadow.
