Another Try
I sat back and watched as she pulled the romance novel from her bag and nuzzled up in her favorite corner in the small coffee shop. Her curly hair rested on her shoulders and her glossy lips enticed me as she tugged a corner of her lower lip in between her teeth. The blue jean skirt she wore rose as she crossed her shapely legs. The waitress walked over and sat down her usual, iced caramel macchiato, and she thanked her with a smile. The most perfect smile that I've ever seen.
She came here every Saturday at the same time to read and have coffee. I scrolled through her instagram while I watched her get settled into the fluffy bean bag chair. She looked even more beautiful than last week. It was something different about her.
A glow maybe? What if she has a boyfriend now?
Maybe I should go over there and just ask how she's doing. I thought as I watched her sip her coffee.
No she looks fine. Plus she would never go for someone like you.
I continued to watch her read and sip and debated if I should make my presence known. Just as I got the courage to walk over there she pulled out her ringing phone and answered.
Maybe that's him. I watched her talk on the phone and I tried my hardest to read her lips. I sat back at the bar with dark shades covering my eyes, I don't want to be caught staring.
She ended the call and her eyes landed in my direction as she picked up her coffee and took a sip. She placed the coffee back onto the table and resumed her reading. I stood and placed the two dollar tip on to the table as I gathered up enough courage to at least ask what she was reading.
You know what she’s reading. You know everything about her. I shook my head and took a deep breath. Okay let's do this.
I walked over and tried to add as much swag to my stride as I could. I wasn't a nerd but being around a woman so beautiful had me feeling all types of soft.
She's not gonna want you. She's out of your league. Why would she want someone who stares at her pictures for hours on end. Or someone who follows her around and watches her read at a coffee shop.
Its fine. It'll be fine I told myself as I approached her section.
“Hello Mila, how are you?” I said with a cheery smile.
“Raymond… what are you doing here?” she whispered.
“Just stopped by for some coffee. And I saw you sitting over here. I noticed a difference in you. How have you been?”
“Raymond. Please leave. I really don't want to do this here.”
I cocked my head to the side, “Do what beautiful? I'm just checking up on you.”
She pulled out her phone and begin to nervously type in her password. I snatched it before she could succeed and gave her another smile. Silly Mila.
“Raymond. It was one date. Two months ago. Let it go.” Her eyes shifted around the cafe as if she was looking for someone to help her.
“Yeah. the best date I've ever had. I knew when I saw you walk through that door in the restaurant that you would be the woman I marry. I can't do this without you please just give me one more chance.” I pleaded and caressed her cheek with the back of my hand.
She cringed at my touch and it angered me. I walked away with her phone in my hand and her hot on my tail.
“Raymond! Give me my phone please!” she begged.
“I will on one condition. Say you’ll give me another chance.” Mila looked down at the ground and up and me.
“Raymond. I'm not interested. And your obsessive behavior is starting to freak me out. I get random calls at night and I know they are from you. Stop sending me shit to my job and showing up to places and asking for me.” She hissed and snatched her from my hand.
She took off from the cafe and I watched as she hurried down the street. Our eyes met once more and I waved at her.
See I told you. She hates you.
That's okay. I'll just give her a few weeks to cool off and I'll try again.
