Chapter Twenty Seven
"And now I have avenged you... Masa... Dad..." Jacron muttered, falling to his knees as shards began to rise out of the dirt. He took one last exhale before they enveloped him in a purple and white case of translucent, ethereal ice.
Soon after the Tele-Train arrived and the police began to pour out in all directions, weapons at the ready. As they fanned out, Lisa, Brendon and Floyd stumbled out of a cleaning closet, very dizzy.
"That's why they knock us out, eh?" Brendon said, falling outside the door. "Let's not do that again. Ever." Lisa said, tripping over Brendon. "Quite." Floyd said, walking in front of them, a little dazed. "I came prepared." He said, holding a small knockout needle in his right hand.
Lisa and Brendon rolled their eyes and began to sloppily get up. "Now, where are they? The city seems to have gone silent, save for the guards hollering orders out. I guess that means Jacron and Masa won." Floyd said, looking around. Suddenly they all heard a voice cut through the crowds, and several policemen were forming a crowd.
Lisa walked out first, leading the other two towards the crowd. They pushed aside guards and Lisa put her hands on her mouth, seeing Jacron frozen in place.
**Two weeks later**
"We are gathered here today to celebrate the burial of two heroes." The priest said, lowering a single coffin into the ground in front of an intact ethereal case.
"You sure this is how they would've wanted it?" Lisa said, turning to Floyd. "Yes. The two were inseparable the whole journey. I wouldn't doubt that that would be how he would want it like this." Floyd replied, motioning towards the service and the rather large gathering of people. "I guess the king got what he really wanted." Floyd sighed. "What was that?" Brendon said, but Floyd shook his head. "I can't stay for long. As much as I want to, I have my wife to track down and I'm sure you two have much to get to as well."
Brendon and Lisa looked at each other and then back to Floyd, "Yeah, I suppose you're right, but we're going to stay a little longer, pay our respects and all." Lisa said. "Good luck with your wife. If you need help, give us a call, we'll be around, helping rebuild those broken Districts." Brendon said. "Of course." Floyd said, turning his back on the two and heading towards his vehicle. "Catch you guys around." He said, throwing up two fingers and waving. "See ya later." Lisa and Brendon said in unison.
After the memorial was done, Lisa and Brendon walked up to Jacron and Masa's grave and read the stone engraving on it. "May we be together again."
"Fitting, dontcha think?" Lisa said to Brendon. Brendon nodded. They turned back and headed into town, grabbing a few drinks before heading to the Tele-Train station.
They passed by an empty dumpster, behind an old restaurant that sat not too far from an advanced-looking mansion. Lisa and Brendon sighed once more before heading onto the train's cabin and looked once more at the city. They exchanged looks and walked in, taking a seat.
