I Like Running

I like running

The sound of my feet slapping the pavement

Reminding me of slapping cakes onto plates

I like running

The feeling of breathing heavier

The further and faster I go

I like cake

And savouring the taste

After I’ve been running

I run to the cake shop

And back again

Knowing that I’ve earnt that extra slice

I like running

And the pain in my legs

That only goes away when I eat cake

I don’t think I like running

But I like cake
