Tigger
This year he turned ten years old,
his face now grey, much more difficult
to get up these days.
My steady companion since a tiny pup,
he helps me steady and gets me up.
Serving me is always on his mind.
Be it helping me walk steady or
giving hugs to others to be kind.
Seen me through some pretty tough times.
Lately though I’ve seen some signs.
His pace is slowing
his age is showing
and lately he’s been sleeping
much more all the while I feel I’m knowing
his days are numbered
as he chases after
imaginary rabbits in his slumber.
Yet this humble, gentle giant has been
my confidante and shadow hound
his entire life.
He is, and like all those who live to serve others,
will always be my
humble
HERO.
Tigger has been my service dog for ten years now.
Now it’s time to retire. I have a new puppy in training, a Harlequin GreatDane named “Snoopy” Tigger has his own comfy couch he relaxes on these days. :•D
