Reflections
Mirror mirror on the wall
Who’s the fairest of them all?
Reflections dark yet clear
Show all the insecurities I hold so dear
It isn’t me I wish to see
It isn’t me I wish to be
Flaws and mistakes, words can’t be erased
What will it take to appreciate my own face?
They whispered lies in my ear
Since the day I began to care
Their words stayed with me longer than friends
Their words could lead me to my very end
Person person in front of me
Let me tell you what I see
Yes bruises cover your fair skin
And maybe you will never be thin
But beauty is in the eye of its beholder
You’ll meet other people, it’s not over
The scars on your body tell a story
The stories may not be of any glory
But they’re proof of what you have overcome
So hold your head high, O’ strong one
It’s not the end of the road
Someday you’ll be free from your load
You asked me who’s the fairest of them all
This question will lead to your downfall
So instead turn to your mirror on the wall
And ask who’s the strongest of them all
To find the answer, I will give a clue
The answer will be staring straight back at you.
